Francesca Coppa is Professor of English and Film Studies at Muhlenberg College and a founder of the Organization for Transformative Works (OTW), the nonprofit which built and runs the Archive of Our Own. She writes in the fields of dramatic literature, performance studies, and fan studies. Her collection of transformative tales, The Fanfiction Reader: Folk Tales for the Digital Age (2017) won the Prose Award for best book in Media and Cultural Studies. Her book, Vidding: A History (2022) was a finalist for the 2024 ACLS Open Access Book Prize. Her most recent book, co-edited with Kirsty Sedgman and Matt Hills, is Theatre Fandom: Engaged Audiences in the 20th Century. She is a feminist and a passionate advocate of fair use.
